## What withdrawal is

Withdrawal into yourself can be a wonderful way to stop, to take time, to discover your needs. It can also be called introspection. The source is unusual in starting with the good of it. The trouble begins when the period goes on, and instead of growth and self-knowledge it becomes an occasion to close yourself to the world.

The entry does not name one part of the body. If the closing goes deep, it says you risk a profound discomfort, psychological and physical.

## The emotional meaning of withdrawal

The turn is specific. You stir negative ideas. You pity yourself. You play the victim. What was a pause becomes that. The way back is to remain open, while still respecting your needs, so that you can live in joy and harmony.

A withdrawal that will not end, especially with hopelessness or with losing the wish to see anyone at all, belongs with depression and with a doctor. The page is about the pause that changed its nature.

## A gentler way to hold it

The aim is not to drag you back into noise. The emotional perspective invites you to keep the part of the pause that teaches you, and to notice when it has become a closed door.

- **Keep the discovery of your needs.** That is the good the source names first.
- **Catch the self-pity.** Playing the victim is the sign the pause has changed.
- **Open one inch.** Respect for your needs and openness are asked to exist together.
- **If the door has been shut for a long time, tell someone.** A profound discomfort is what the entry says can follow.
